We have a great combo excursion for you that has both thrills to start and a great way to relax at the end. Come along with us and drive your own ATV to the Castillo Real ruin. Your guide will lead you over exciting trails and then give you the history of this small ruin. Then you will have the chance to kick back and relax on a gorgeous beach while enjoying a Mexican meal. It doesn't get better than this!
Start this day by meeting with your guide just a few minutes away from your Cozumel cruise ship pier. You'll be escorted to an air conditioned taxi for a brief, scenic ride across the island. Once you get to the beach club, Mezcalitos, you'll get why this side of the island is called the wild side. No resorts in sight. Just miles of sand and surf with just a few beach clubs here and there.
At the ATV base you will receive a ten minute briefing about operation and safety and then be given your helmet. All you have to do is follow your guide across the trails. You'll be on a semi-automatic 250cc Honda and you'll have the choice to ride solo, or double. Check the chart for pricing. Be prepared to have a lot of fun and get a little dirty as you laugh and smile your way across sand, mud, through jungle and on beaches.
It's interesting to note that, due to the deep sandy roads and rocky trails, very few vehicles make it down the trails this far. So just enjoy the scenery (without the crowds) as you follow your guide to the Mayan ruin known as Castillo Real. Once there your informative guide will pass along some history and cultural beliefs pertaining to the ruins found on Cozumel. This was sacred land and the Mayan people believed Cozumel was a sacred place. They built the Castillo Real between 800 and 900 years A.C. as a lighthouse to help them to avoid the collision with the reef areas when they journeyed to the area while on a pilgrimage.
A fun fact is that Castillo Real is one of the very few ruins that you can still climb. You will also have the chance to refresh with cold water as you enjoy the ocean view. Once you're finished enjoying the ruin site, you make the fun return ride back to the beach club, Mezcalitos. Time to kick back and relax on the beach, explore the shoreline or search out a hammock. You will also be served a complimentary lite lunch of chicken fajitas along with cold water. You can purchase additional food and/or drinks from the Mezcalitos menu.
At the end of your excursion time, you can return to the pier, or stay as long as you like at this fun beach club and simply take a taxi back at your own convenience and expense. It doesn't get any better than this, enjoy!
