If you hope to avoid the crowds, and want a unique experience on your own terms, then this is the excursion for you! This completely private, and premium, excursion is for those who enjoy personalized service, want the ability to make their own choices, and have the desire to see Cozumel on their own terms. Even the vehicle you drive is a choice of an open air buggy or a Jeep, will be your transportation for the day. You can select which hot spots you'd like to see, snorkel in crystal clear waters with a private guide, and end your day watching the sun set while you enjoy a fabulous lobster dinner served by staff members who have only your high expectations in mind.
You can begin your day right at your cruise ship pier (or resort) where an accommodating, English speaking guide will be waiting for you. Your guide will take this opportunity to discuss the many available options and you can choose right then and there, or let him know you'll decide as you go along. At that point you'll be shown to your reserved vehicle - you can order the open air fun dune buggy or a Jeep. The buggies are standard stick shift only but the Jeeps are available in either standard or automatic. You must indicate on your order if you want an automatic Jeep, otherwise it will be stick shift. All drivers must show a valid driver's license. Whichever you choose, it will be well stocked with a cooler of ice cold Sol or Corona beer, bottled water, and soft drinks. There is a minimum of 4 participants, or pay the difference (if just 2 adults than you can purchase two spaces at the children's rate).
Once your personal selections have been discussed with your private guide then just follow your guide through town, over to the transversal that leads to the "other" side of the island. Your first stop will be for a tequila tasting where you will be introduced to the beverage that was invented in Mexico. You'll learn about the process of growing, harvesting and distilling Mexico's most famous liquid, tequila. There will also be a tequila tasting for those who are ages 18 years and older. You will spend about 45 minutes here.
Then you're off for what the locals call "the wild side" of the island, the east coast where you'll find a few small beach clubs, but no resorts. Enjoy wild open views of the deep turquoise blue Caribbean. Drive along the coast with the sensation of salty sea air brushing against your face. Naturally, you are welcome to stop for photos if you'd like. This side of the island has all the beauty one sees in the brochures, but seldom are quite the same. They are exactly what you've seen here on the east side of Cozumel. You'll quickly notice that many areas are completely isolated, perfect for that romantic walk on the beach with no-one else in sight. Note that only approximately 13% of Cozumel Island has been developed and you will be seeing some of the best this island has to offer!
Although all the choices are yours, we would like to recommend a stop at the famous Coconuts Bar. This is a famous beach club located on the highest point on the island...all 41 feet/10.7 meters above sea level! A fun atmosphere, great music, and all with breathtaking views that include miles of sandy beach, beautiful water and waves. They also have a staff eager to make your stay both memorable and fun! You are welcome to sit and purchase a snack or beverage or maybe just enjoy a brief photo op.
Some of the other possibilities on the east side include the San Martin Beach club, Punta Moreno, Playa Bonita, or Rastas, all clubs with their own ambiance and your guide can explain the differences, if you'd like. You can visit any, or none, the choice is always yours with time allowing.
A stop at the natural rock bridge, Mirador (formed by coral and the pounding waves) is always a guest favorite, too. The photo opportunities are well known!
You may also decide to stop in El Cedral, a colorful, and historic town in the middle of the island where you can see how the locals live away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist locations. This was the first settlement on the island. It is home to the first Catholic Church which is right next to a small Mayan ruin. Always keep in mind that the choices are all up to you.
Your final stop will be to enjoy a private, guided snorkel over the second largest reef in the world in a Marine Park protected area. All snorkeling gear will be provided and you will have an experienced guide with you to help point out the tropical marine life you might miss otherwise. Your guide will have you back to shore after approximately 35 minutes. Of course, although the guided snorkel is included, guests may decide to skip it.
Then you have come to the time for a fabulous dinner served by a staff whose only thoughts are your comfort and enjoyment. This is when you will enjoy a lobster dinner while taking in the fabulous tropical sunset. There are other food options as well such as grilled mahi mahi, grilled shrimp, surf and turf, and even an option for vegetarians, vegans and children. Please note any other special dietary needs on your order form. Your dinner choice is included, however, drinks will be at the customer's expense. There is a full bar for any beverage purchases. Then, once your remarkable dinner is finished, you have the option to drive back to your Cozumel cruise ship pier (or resort) or you may choose to stay and enjoy the beach club longer and return to the ship/resort at your leisure and expense later. Enjoy!
